Michael Everson

Mike is a Senior Advisor at Valaria Technical Consultants (VTC), LLC, where he provides consulting on clinical research and product development for therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostics to prevent, treat, and mitigate infectious and a wide variety of other diseases. Mike has over 30 years of immunology and infectious disease research, product development and scientific administration experience. He obtained a B. S. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University and a Ph. D. in Molecular Cell Biology with a focus on Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. His government and non-government experience include conceptualizing, developing, and leading a Demonstration Clinic (Gulf War veterans illnesses, with 24% increased patient satisfaction and 4% decreased costs), and managing research on anthrax, tularemia, plague, and ebola for the Department of Defense (DOD). Mike has 9 years of pharmaceutical research and development experience and >6 years consulting for major pharmaceutical manufacturing organizations. He is experienced in the conduct and management of Phase 1 through Phase 4 in the US and internationally. These positions include a Principal Investigator on clinical trials at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, Principal Investigator or a Co-Principal Investigator on 5 national clinical trials, and Sub-Investigator or Site Director for 24 national and international clinical trials. He has performed critical review and correction of clinical development programs and management of complex budgets and has a strong background in the clinical study development process (including SRO functions), GCP/ICH guidelines, and development of corporate SOPs. In addition, he has national/international experience in written and oral presentations for medical education, Medical Grand Rounds, and corporate, media, and public presentations. He is an author or co-author of 47 scientific/medical publications in leading journals
